REGISTERED MASTER BUILDERS HOUSE OF THE YEAR…
Originally built to reflect Central Otago’s scenery, the owner’s vision was to extend and enhance this design with an 113m2 addition. This was seamlessly executed by Breen Construction, who combined local schist, tray copper cladding and quality natural materials to bring the outside elements inside, pulling off a flawlessm transition between the original house and the new living areas.
The kitchen, dining and living room are now the central hub with the guest bedrooms and facilities on the Southern side. A stunning connecting hallway with large glass cavity slider and glass mosaic floors now lead to the master bedroom/ensuite, media room and office, giving the owners their own private space.
Schist is used for dramatic effect on exterior and interior walls, with the full schist media room featuring a “picture frame’’ window which offers breath-taking views of Leaning Rock and the Cairnmuirs. This is complemented by 600 x 600 natural stone tiles in the bathroom, which give a quality, luxurious feel.
Stepping back outside, Breen Construction completed the picture with a schist fire pit, stacked schist wall and a chip-sealed driveway.
